These attacks are occurring due to inadequate security measures among individual owners, who install solar panels for profits from selling electricity. The compromised security exposes more than 20% of Japan’s solar power systems to risks, potentially causing a decline in power output. This issue could also impact the adoption and efficiency of decentralized power systems based on solar energy. The vulnerabilities often lie in the remote monitoring equipment of these solar facilities, which hackers exploit for malicious purposes.
